Manon Fuchs

After Duke, Manon will pursue a Master of Science in Foreign Service with a certificate in Eurasian, Russian, and Eastern European Studies at Georgetown University. As a Rangel fellow, she is on a fast track to a career in the foreign service, which she will begin once she receives her degree and completes two summer internships on Capital Hill and at a US embassy of her choosing. Manon hopes to focus her career as an FSO on Eastern Europe and Central Asia, where she can apply her language and regional knowledge to the former Soviet region.

Thesis Title: "The Duality of Max Frei: Problems of Identity in Contemporary Popular Russian Fiction.”

I am excited to be graduating with my master’s in Slavic and Eurasian Studies. I hope to put my language skills to work as a translator/interpreter or as a language teacher. I discovered through Duke’s curriculum that I can conduct thorough research and that I am a lot more capable than I thought! I am extremely grateful to my mom, dad, stepdad, younger brother, sister, grandparents, and the rest of my family and friends for supporting me through my journey at Duke. I am also thrilled to have met and worked with Duke’s excellent Slavic Department professors and staff!

Daniel Khaykin

Hi my name is Daniel and I am from Long Island, New York. I majored in Economics and minored in Russian Culture & Language during my time at Duke and really enjoyed both experiences. After graduation, I will be moving back to New York to do investment banking at Deutsche Bank, which I am super excited for. My time minoring in Russian has been awesome, and I am thankful for the department and all the great professors that made it such an amazing experience.

 Alex Migala

After graduation, I will pursue a PhD in physics. I am still deciding between a few programs, but I will likely be in California. In grad school, I hope to audit (or even take if I can) more Russian classes.

Micahel Sheyner

After graduating from Duke with a B.S. in Biology and minors in Chemistry and Russian Language and Culture, I'm taking a gap year to work in Emergency Medical Services as an EMT in my home state of Florida. While I also pursue medical school applications and the endless essay’s associated with them, I'll be busy training our new puppy, Phillip, a Black Russian Terrier. Aside from that, I’m looking forward to taking some time off from studying and relax a little.
