Majors and Minors

The Department of Slavic and Eurasian Studies offers two majors and three minors:

The Majors

  1. major in Russian language and culture
  2. major in Slavic and Eurasian Studies


The Minors 

  1. Polish Language and Culture
  2. Russian Culture and Language
  3. Russian Literature in Translation
  4. Turkish Language and Culture

 

The FOCUS Program:

The FOCUS Program is an interdisciplinary learning and living experience for select first-year and second-year students. In 2013-2014 SES faculty teach in the following FOCUS options: Neuroscience and Human Language, Geopolitics & Culture, Politics of Language, and From Prague to Kabul.  Click here for more information about these and other FOCUS programs website.

 

Language Placement:

The Duke Slavic Department requires an oral and written proficiency test in Russian language. For first time matriculating students, the placement test must be taken before the beginning of the fall semester in order to determine appropriate registration.
