Diachronic and synchronic approaches to the study of comparative linguistics in phonology, morphology, morphophonemics, syntax, and lexical categories in the context of the world's languages. Both Indo-European and non-Indo-European languages. Topics include theories of reconstruction, languages in contact, abductive processes, questions of linguistic typology and cultural-based approaches to the analytical study of human languages. Research project required. One course.
